The Strategic Role of ASEAN Community

This globalization era force us to join in international competition with many aspects, the competition degree is more crowded when some of contries in Asia Pasific also contribute in it, we know Japan, China, South Korea and India have participated in developing the economic of world, based on condition which make some developing countries only became the victim of the competition, because they only became a market destination, ASEAN community absolutely became a good way to make some strategies where the asean countries also be able to contribute in many aspects which give significant influence to the world as  actors. So that’s why ASEAN + 9 Youth Assembly hopefully  doesn’t only talk  about economy but also politic, culture, social transformation among the asean countries and world peace, as youth forum this event may became a place to consolidate many good ideas from the generation candidate of world leader.

As we have known the asean countries a few years lately begin to build power in economic sectors, with many economic resources we have to believe that we can compete with the other countries. The important thing may also discussed in this forum is about peace in asean region, conflict, discrimination and racism still became a big problem such as which is happened to moeslim rohingya in Myanmar, realize that without cooperating among the asean countries to overcome the problem, it’s difficult to take a strategic role in the world change for the better future.

Since the crisis of 1997, Indonesia is still trying to stabilize the condition that causes a lot of social and economic problems such as poverty, unemployment and social inequality, to rise from adversity build regional economic and political power is a necessity that must be taken, we should be proud because the smart initiative also comes from young people. Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) as youth organizations, have made a smart move by initiating the implementation of this forum, with the participation of asean countries this forum is expected to contribute ideas that can help build strength asean region.

We have pretty much just become spectators in a strategic segment changes and progress, seeing the success of the European Union to build a regional power, Asean community would be more active in dealing with humanitarian issues, including the Middle East crisis that has not been over, developed countries in the world that sometimes makes the third world countries as market interest has generated a lot of inequality and imbalance condition, creating a conducive situation and fair is certainly a one of the purpose of this forum.We know asean countries with large capital development, human resources and competitiveness that has a tough mentality is a progress value.

Political situation of the world today has been in very poor condition, the strength of the old political style that makes power as a tool of interests make some countries which have not political power are getting worse, reconciliation to support the political independence of every state also needs to be important for discussion, from asean countries a force to repair the world will be created.

Impact of globalization which tends to carry the western culture as a model, is also a threat to its own like eastern culture with noble values​​, we know that cultural patterns mainland countries could not be equated with the archipelago, one of the interesting issues that also need to get serious attention as a capital advances based on national and local identity. Moreover some asian countries are an archipelago.

Indonesia as the country with the largest population of asean region, should be a pioneer in developing the potential of the region, Asean countries like Malaisya, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Philipine, Myanmar, and laos  have great potential to contribute in building a regional power, of course asean regional power does not intend to oppress other countries, but to be one source of power that will create alternative solutions to overcome the multidimensional crisis that hit the world.

Asean community will open hope of an order of a peaceful life between countries, based on reality of the diversity of ethnicity, religion, race and culture, establish a regional cooperation will facilitate the distribution of justice and prosperity for the people in each country. as a progressive young people would be happy to join in the noble agenda for humanity.
